Ubiquiti • Pro Max 48 PoE • EU version
More ports. A clearer power plan.
The Pro Max 48 PoE brings managed switching and device power together with 32 Gigabit RJ45 ports, 16 ports at 2.5GbE and four 10G SFP+ uplinks. A shared 720 W PoE budget supports a planned mix of powered equipment, while Etherlighting makes port identification part of everyday management. Layer 3 local-network functions complement the UniFi Network management workflow.

Ports with purpose
Put faster links where they matter.
The 48-port layout combines 32 Gigabit ports split 24 PoE+/8 PoE++, plus 16 ports at 2.5GbE split 8 PoE+/8 PoE++. 4 SFP+ interfaces support 10 G or 1 G links. Allocate the faster copper ports to devices that can use them and select compatible optics or DACs for the uplinks. Port rates are link capabilities, not a guarantee of application throughput.

PoE planning
Budget for the whole installation.
A total of 32 PoE+ and 16 PoE++ ports share 720 W of available PoE output. The budget and individual PSE limits both apply. Add the required loads of cameras, access points and other powered devices before deployment; do not multiply the highest per-port rating by every port and assume that power is available.
Traffic and segmentation
Keep local networks organised.
Ubiquiti specifies 224 Gbps switching capacity, 112 Gbps total non-blocking throughput and 167 Mpps forwarding. Local inter-VLAN routing, static routing, DHCP server/relay, VLANs and access controls support a managed network design. These switch functions do not replace the separate gateway and security policy required by the site.
A more legible cabinet
Identify connections with Etherlighting.
Etherlighting illuminates Ethernet and SFP+ connections for port location and network-status work. A 1.3-inch touchscreen provides local status, while UniFi Network handles configuration. Familiar switching controls include LACP, STP/RSTP, IGMP snooping, QoS, 802.1X and port mirroring; enabled behaviour depends on the deployed software and topology.
Power and fit
Plan the enclosure and the supply.
The 1U chassis is 442.4 mm wide and 400 mm deep. Its internal 870 W power supply accepts 100–240 V AC, and the separately specified 820 W maximum system consumption includes PoE output. A USP-RPS DC input allows compatible separately purchased backup power; the PoE output budget remains 720 W.
Managed installation
Match software, cabling and environment.
The manufacturer lists UniFi Network 8.0.24 or later as the application requirement for this model; check the deployed release before adoption. Use the exact installation guide for mounting and connections, allow ventilation and respect the −5°C to 40°C operating range. Confirm the EU power connection and local warranty arrangements for the supplied unit.
