Ubiquiti UniFi • USW-48-POE-EU
Forty-eight connections. Power where it belongs.
The UniFi Standard 48 PoE combines 48 Gigabit RJ45 connections with four 1G SFP uplinks in a 1U managed switch. Thirty-two copper ports supply PoE/PoE+, sharing a 195W power budget; the remaining 16 RJ45 ports provide data connections. It is a clear foundation for access points, cameras and ordinary wired endpoints when the power and uplinks are planned together.

Port roles
Separate powered devices from ordinary data.
Ports 1–32 support 10/100/1000 Ethernet and 802.3af/at PoE output. Ports 33–48 are Gigabit data ports without PoE output. Four SFP ports provide 1Gbps connections for compatible uplink modules. They are 1G SFP interfaces, so plan the aggregation link around that rate rather than expecting 10G SFP+ operation.
A shared power allowance
Budget the complete PoE load.
All powered ports share 195W of available PoE. Ubiquiti lists 15.4W per port in PoE mode and a 32W maximum at the switch’s PSE output in PoE+ mode; power delivered to the endpoint is lower after cable loss. The per-port maximum is not available on every port simultaneously. Add device requirements and leave appropriate headroom before filling the switch.
Switching performance
Read the capacity figures in context.
Manufacturer ratings are 104Gbps switching capacity, 52Gbps non-blocking throughput and 77 million packets per second forwarding. The 104Gbps figure counts aggregate switching directions; it is not the speed of one connection. Each RJ45 or SFP link remains Gigabit, and upstream capacity is governed by the chosen uplink design and traffic distribution.
Layer 2 control
Organise traffic before the rack fills.
UniFi Network provides central management for VLANs, port settings and PoE monitoring. The model supports LACP aggregation, STP/RSTP, IGMP snooping, 802.1X controls, ACLs, port isolation and mirroring. Configure these features for the site rather than assuming they are active by default. A 1.3-inch touchscreen and link/speed/PoE indicators assist local checks.
Power and installation
Leave the fanless chassis room to breathe.
The internal 240W supply accepts 100–240V AC at 50/60Hz. Maximum consumption is 45W excluding PoE output and 240W including it; neither number is the 195W endpoint power budget. Install in a standard 19-inch rack with 1U available, follow the mounting guide and do not stack equipment on the fanless chassis. A UPS can help protect continuity through mains interruptions.
Manage and maintain
Keep the exact model in view.
The current manufacturer requirement is UniFi Network 7.2.94 or later. The USW-48-POE-EU is the Standard model, with a grey steel enclosure and 1G SFP uplinks; Pro and Pro Max switches have different capabilities. The supplied mains cord’s plug must suit the installation. Keep serial and purchase records for the supplied 12-month warranty and use the exact-model guide when servicing the switch.
