ASUS • PRIME H610M-R D4 • Intel H610
An Intel foundation with clear boundaries.
The PRIME H610M-R D4 brings LGA1700 processors, two DDR4 memory slots and PCIe expansion to a compact 226 × 193 mm micro-ATX board. Its CPU-connected PCIe 4.0 x16 slot is separate from the chipset’s PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 storage interface. Choose a processor from ASUS’s exact support list and check the required BIOS before assembling the system.

CPU and firmware
Start with the exact processor and BIOS.
ASUS lists supported 12th, 13th and 14th Gen Intel Core processors, plus Pentium Gold and Celeron models, with support for CPUs rated up to 65 W. Socket fit alone is not sufficient. Its CPU table validates examples such as the Core i5-14400 at BIOS 2603; check your exact processor and stepping rather than applying that version to every CPU.
DDR4 population
Two channels. Two slots.
DIMM_A1 and DIMM_B1 each serve one memory channel. The board supports up to 64 GB of non-ECC, unbuffered DDR4, with listed data rates up to 3200 MT/s and XMP support. The manual permits a single module in either slot or two modules together. Matching modules help compatibility; with unequal capacities, the matching portion runs dual-channel and the excess runs single-channel.
Storage and expansion
Keep the two PCIe generations distinct.
The CPU provides one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, while the H610 chipset provides a PCIe 3.0 x1 slot and the M.2 Key-M interface. The M.2 socket accepts 2242, 2260 and 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4 devices. ASUS does not list SATA mode for this socket; use the four SATA 6 Gb/s connectors for SATA drives. Check card clearance in the chosen chassis.
Displays and network
A practical rear connection panel.
HDMI, DVI-D and D-Sub provide display choices when the selected processor supplies integrated graphics. The HDMI specification supports up to 4K at 60 Hz with suitable source and display settings. Realtek 1 Gb Ethernet handles wired networking. Four rear Type-A USB ports are split between two USB 3.2 Gen 1 and two USB 2.0 connections, alongside separate PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports.
Headers and physical fit
Connect the case to the board you have.
The 226 × 193 mm micro-ATX layout includes 24-pin main power and 4-pin 12 V CPU power connectors. There is one 4-pin CPU-fan header and one 4-pin chassis-fan header. Internal USB headers provide two additional USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and four USB 2.0 ports, plus front audio and system-panel connections. Match case leads and fan requirements to these headers.
Audio and board features
Useful controls without a performance promise.
The Realtek codec supports 7.1-channel output with an appropriate front-panel HD-audio module. ASUS lists audio shielding, separate audio layers and premium capacitors. The board’s 5X Protection III features include DIGI+ VRM, LANGuard, overvoltage protection, SafeSlot Core and stainless-steel rear I/O. EZ Flash 3, CrashFree BIOS 3 and UEFI EZ Mode provide firmware tools; follow exact model instructions.
Package and software
Plan the rest of the build.
ASUS’s manual lists the motherboard, two SATA cables, an I/O shield, an M.2 anchor, a support DVD and a user guide. Windows 10 and 11 64-bit are the documented operating systems. The exact model download selector provides drivers and utilities, including Armoury Crate and AI Suite 3 resources; choose the OS and review release notes before installing anything.
