Hikvision • DS-3E1318P-EI • Smart managed PoE
Power the cameras. See the network.
Bring sixteen Fast Ethernet camera connections and two Gigabit combo uplinks into one smart managed switch. The DS-3E1318P-EI combines a 230W PoE budget with network visibility, camera restart tools and extended transmission settings for surveillance installations. Plan power, cable runs and uplink bandwidth together; the camera ports operate at 10/100Mbps, while the two shared copper/fibre uplinks support Gigabit connections.

Power planning
A shared budget, with a clear limit.
The sixteen PoE ports support IEEE 802.3af/at and up to 30W per port, within a shared 230W switch budget. That total is not enough to supply 30W on every port simultaneously. Add the connected devices’ power requirements before choosing the installation layout, and leave suitable headroom for the application.
Uplink architecture
Choose copper or fibre for each uplink.
Two Gigabit combo interfaces connect the camera network onward. Each combo pairs an RJ45 connection with an SFP position; they are alternative media for the same uplink, not four independent Gigabit ports. The manufacturer describes fibre taking precedence when both media are connected. Optical modules and fibre must be selected for the intended link.
Long cable runs
Extend reach with the installation in mind.
Long-range mode is available on ports 1–16, with a manufacturer-listed reach of up to 300m. Camera model and cable condition affect the result. Extended reach is a mode-specific capability rather than an unconditional full-speed Ethernet guarantee; check bandwidth and power at the far end of each actual cable run.
Surveillance controls
Give critical feeds a defined priority.
VIP ports 1–8 receive forwarding priority when bandwidth is constrained. PoE Watchdog can detect and restart cameras that stop responding. Configure these tools around the deployment: a restart interrupts the connected device, and priority settings do not create additional uplink capacity.
A network you can inspect
Manage structure as well as status.
The native web-management, Hik-Partner Pro and Hik-Central Pro paths are retained. Supported functions include 802.1Q VLANs, static link aggregation, STP/RSTP, cable diagnostics, LLDP and port mirroring. Use topology, port bandwidth, PoE usage and alarm information to investigate a link before changing the wider installation. Available remote functions depend on the deployed software and device firmware.
Rack installation
Make space for power, airflow and grounding.
The metal enclosure is designed for rack installation with mounting ears. Manufacturer specifications distinguish 230W of PoE output from 250W maximum switch consumption, with a 100–240V AC input. The listed 6kV surge protection complements appropriate installation and grounding; it is not a promise of immunity to lightning damage.
