Refresh a compatible desktop or notebook with the HIKSEMI CITY E100 256 GB. Its 2.5-inch SATA design brings solid-state storage to systems with the right drive bay, data connection and power supply, without requiring an NVMe slot.
Everyday computing
The E100 pairs 3D NAND storage with a SATA III interface. It is designed for applications, documents and everyday files; the published 550 MB/s read and 450 MB/s write figures are maximum sequential results, not a promise for every transfer.
Inside the drive
Electronic flash storage removes the rotating platters and moving head of a mechanical hard drive. TRIM support helps a compatible operating system manage unused blocks. Keep a separate backup: solid-state construction and endurance ratings do not guarantee recovery of lost files.
Plan the installation
A suitable 2.5-inch mounting position and SATA connection are required. Confirm the host's drive support, mounting and power arrangements before ordering; an M.2-only socket is not a substitute for the drive's SATA connector.
Power and endurance
For the 256 GB model, HIKSEMI specifies up to 1.8 W maximum consumption, 60,000 random 4K read IOPS and 70,000 write IOPS. The 120 TBW endurance and two-million-hour MTBF are manufacturer ratings, not a lifespan or data-retention guarantee.
Performance depends on the host, firmware, operating system and workload. Formatted usable capacity is lower than nominal capacity. Confirm mounting and SATA compatibility; keep independent backups.
