HP J7B60AA · USB TO RS-232 ADAPTER
Keep a serial connection within reach.
HP J7B60AA adds one RS-232 serial connection through a USB-A port. Its 1.2 m cable, defined data-rate references and USB bus power make the physical connection clear; the operating system, driver and serial device still need their own compatibility check.

ONE DEFINED SERIAL CONNECTION
Connect the peripheral through RS-232.
This adapter expands a USB-A connection into one independent 9-pin RS-232 serial port. Match the peripheral’s electrical interface and connector requirements before installation. It is a serial adapter; the technical specification does not establish a separate parallel-printer port.
HOST PORT AND DATA RATE
USB port compatibility is not a SuperSpeed claim.
HP lists compatibility with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 host ports, with a USB connection reference up to 12 Mbps and serial communication up to 115.2 Kbps. Those are different interfaces and limits. A USB 3.0 host port does not make this a 5 Gbps serial connection.
CABLE AND POWER
A 1.2 m connection, powered from USB.
The black cable gives 1.2 m of reach between the host and peripheral. HP specifies USB bus power without an additional external power supply, along with USB Plug-and-Play and hot-swapping support. Software and peripheral settings still determine whether a particular setup can communicate.
OPERATING SYSTEM AND DRIVER
Check the software requirement before ordering.
The manufacturer’s dated 2020 QuickSpecs list Windows XP through Windows 10 and specified Windows Server editions. That historical list does not establish Windows 11 support or the availability of a suitable driver today. Confirm the exact computer, operating-system architecture and driver requirement for the intended serial device.
WARRANTY AND INSTALLATION RECORD
Keep the adapter’s part number with the system.
HP describes a one-year Option Limited Warranty for parts replacement. When the option is installed in an HP hardware product, coverage may follow the longer applicable host period, subject to HP’s conditions and a three-year maximum from option purchase. Retain the purchase record and consult the applicable local terms.
