Cookie Policy

Last updated: 27 August 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how MatzoTech uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, which technologies are necessary, when optional technologies may be activated, and how you can change or withdraw your privacy choice. It should be read with our POPIA Act & Privacy Notice and Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. They can keep you signed in, maintain a shopping basket, remember a choice, secure a session, or help measure website and advertising performance. Similar technologies include pixels, tags, web beacons, local storage, and identifiers used by embedded services.

Some cookies last only for the current browser session. Others remain for a stated period or until you remove them. A cookie does not run software on your device.

2. Cookie categories used by MatzoTech

Strictly necessary cookies

These support services you request and the security or operation of the website. They cannot be disabled through the MatzoTech privacy panel because the cart, checkout, account, fraud-prevention, security, and privacy-choice functions may otherwise fail.

  • woocommerce_cart_hash and woocommerce_items_in_cart — keep the cart state accurate.
  • wp_woocommerce_session_* — links your browser to a temporary WooCommerce shopping session.
  • wordpress_logged_in_* and related WordPress security cookies — authenticate and protect signed-in sessions.
  • matzotech_privacy_choice — stores whether you selected Necessary only or accepted optional cookies, together with the applicable wording version.

Feature and preference cookies

First-party feature storage may remember a wishlist, comparison list, recently viewed products, display preference, or another feature that you actively use. These records are used to provide that feature and are not permission for electronic marketing.

Optional analytics and advertising cookies

Optional technologies help MatzoTech understand website use, diagnose performance, measure advertising results, and improve campaigns. They may use device, browser, page, interaction, referral, and cookie-identifier information. Known optional Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, Meta, Hotjar, and Microsoft Clarity tracker sources are blocked from loading until you select Accept optional cookies.

  • _ga, _ga_*, _gid, and _gat may be used by Google Analytics.
  • _gcl_au and related _gcl_* identifiers may be used for Google Ads measurement.
  • _fbp may be used by Meta advertising services if those services are enabled.
  • Other optional identifiers will be subject to the same privacy choice when the related service is enabled.

3. How the MatzoTech privacy panel works

On a first visit, or when the consent wording version changes, optional analytics and advertising storage is denied by default and the privacy panel is displayed. You can choose:

  • Necessary only — optional analytics, advertising, and personalisation storage remains disabled. You can still browse, use the cart, sign in, and place an order.
  • Accept optional cookies — the optional technologies described in this policy may be activated.

Your cookie choice is separate from accepting the Terms of Use, creating an account, placing an order, receiving service messages, or opting into email marketing. Declining optional cookies does not prevent you from shopping.

4. Changing or withdrawing your choice

You can reopen the privacy panel at any time by selecting Privacy choices in the website footer. Select Necessary only to withdraw optional-cookie consent, or Accept optional cookies to enable it.

When you withdraw consent, MatzoTech prevents the known optional tracker sources controlled by this website from loading on future pages and attempts to remove common optional cookies from this domain. A third party may have set a cookie that MatzoTech cannot remove directly. You can remove any remaining cookies through your browser settings. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

5. Third-party services

Depending on the page, feature, payment method, and your privacy choice, website information may be processed by service providers such as:

  • Google — Tag Manager, Analytics, Ads measurement, embedded maps, or video services where enabled.
  • Payment and finance providers — secure payment or finance functions selected during checkout. Necessary payment processing is separate from optional advertising consent.
  • Customer-support and communications providers — chat, email, or support tools where enabled or actively opened.
  • Embedded media providers — video or other content when a page includes or activates that service.

Third parties may process information under their own privacy and cookie policies. MatzoTech limits the information disclosed to what is reasonably required for the relevant service and addresses cross-border processing in the POPIA Act & Privacy Notice.

6. Typical cookie lifetimes

  • Shopping and security session cookies — generally the browser session or the period required to maintain the cart, checkout, or authenticated session.
  • MatzoTech privacy-choice cookie — up to 180 days, unless you change the choice or the wording version changes.
  • Feature and preference storage — typically up to 12 months, depending on the feature.
  • Analytics identifiers — from a few minutes up to 24 months, depending on the provider and identifier.
  • Advertising identifiers — typically up to 13 months, depending on the provider.

7. Browser controls

Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies for a particular website. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the cart, checkout, account, or security features from working. Browser settings are an additional control and do not replace the footer Privacy choices link.

8. Changes and contact

MatzoTech may update this policy when website technologies, providers, or legal requirements change. A material change may cause the privacy panel to request a new choice. The revision date appears at the top of this page.

For questions about cookies or privacy choices, contact MatzoTech through the Contact Us page or email onlineshop@matzotech.com.
