SAS is a system requirement.
This is a SAS enterprise drive. Check the server or storage enclosure’s SAS controller, backplane, carrier and supported-drive list before ordering. A desktop SATA port or an ordinary USB-to-SATA enclosure does not provide a SAS connection. The 15 mm enclosure also needs more clearance than a typical thin notebook drive bay.

Match the active sector format to the controller, operating system and existing storage configuration. Changing format is a deliberate storage operation, not an automatic setup step.
